Date:

First National Bank (FNB) has been appointed as eThekwini Municipality’s new banking partner, effective 1 October 2025, following a competitive public tender. The Municipality concludes a successful 10-year partnership with Nedbank, which provided dedicated financial services over two terms.

FNB will offer a full range of banking services, including user-friendly digital solutions, bulk cash handling, speed point terminals, electronic banking, and overdraft facilities.

City Manager Musa Mbhele welcomed the partnership: “FNB presented the most compelling proposal to meet the evolving financial needs of the Municipality. We thank Nedbank for a decade of excellent service.”

FNB’s Provincial Head for Commercial Public Sector, Anrie Spangenberg, said: “We look forward to supporting eThekwini on its digital journey and enhancing service delivery through innovative solutions.”

Residents paying Municipal bills via EFT are advised to update their beneficiary details to “eThekwini Municipality.” Payments can also be made at major retail outlets including Pick ‘n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, Spar, and Game.
