KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, has applauded Pietermaritzburg-born beauty queen Luyanda Zuma for making the province proud after being crowned First Princess at the Miss South Africa 2025 pageant held in Pretoria on Saturday evening.

Zuma, who was the only representative from KwaZulu-Natal following the withdrawal of Lebohang Msimango from eMpangeni, captured the hearts of many through her grace, humility, and determination throughout the competition. Describing her experience as a “humbling second journey to the crown,” Zuma’s story is one of resilience, purpose, and service. Premier Ntuli praised the 25-year-old for her remarkable achievement, saying she embodies the spirit and potential of young women from KwaZulu-Natal.

“Luyanda’s success today is a tremendous source of pride for KwaZulu-Natal. Her achievement reflects the strength, potential, and promise of our young women, especially those emerging from our province’s cities and towns. She has shown courage, resilience, and vision, becoming an inspiration to countless young South Africans who now see what is possible when talent is matched with purpose and hard work,” said Ntuli.

The Premier added that Zuma’s accomplishment further strengthens KwaZulu-Natal’s reputation as a province of excellence and opportunity.

“From Pietermaritzburg to every corner of KwaZulu-Natal, our people continue to shine on national and global stages. We stand behind Luyanda as she embarks on the next chapter of her journey. We trust she will use this platform not only to represent our province and country with elegance and integrity, but also to advance causes of empowerment, job creation, and community upliftment,” he said.

Ntuli concluded by extending gratitude to Zuma for representing the province with distinction, saying her journey is a beacon of hope and motivation for young people across South Africa.

“On behalf of the people of KwaZulu-Natal, I thank Luyanda for carrying our flag high and I wish her every success in the years ahead. May this be just the beginning of a journey marked not merely by pageantry, but by leadership, purpose, and service,” added Ntuli.

The Miss South Africa 2025 finale took place at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, where the country’s most inspiring women competed for the coveted title.
