Richmond came alive on Saturday, 20 September 2025, as KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli joined thousands of young people at the 61st Annual Scouts and Cubs Competition Rally, hosted at Richmond Primary School.
The event celebrated the rich history of Scouting in South Africa, while showcasing the unity, leadership, and learning that the movement continues to instil in generations of young people.
A former Scout himself, Premier Ntuli lauded the programme’s 117-year legacy, saying it has inspired young people to become active citizens in their communities.
He commended Scouts for their involvement in environmental conservation, food gardening, first aid, HIV and AIDS prevention, and digital skills training.
“In Scouts, I see capable leaders who will inspire new hope for a brighter and prosperous KwaZulu-Natal,” Ntuli said.
